Philosophy
Weddings
I believe that weddings should be as fun and stress free as possible, and a lot of that falls on the DJ.
DJ’ing a wedding is about so much more than packing a dance floor at the end of the night. Behind the scenes, the DJ acts as the host, coordinator, communicator, and executor of the timeline for the event. Ultimately my job is to make sure the night goes smoothly and everyone has a good time, all while playing the right songs at the right time to help make lasting memories.
Performance
When it comes to performance at a wedding I think its important to emphasis that none of this is about ME. The focus and music should all be about YOU. Some couples just want to hire a DJ and let them do their thing. Others want to have a hand in the crafting of their playlists for the day. I am fully equipped to handle both of the extremes and everything in between with a planning portal that allows you to pick songs throughout the night, and a deep music knowledge to fill in the gaps and craft a perfect playlist for YOU.
Wedding dance floors are typically long and attended by a large variety of age groups and preferences, so it is important to get around to a lot of different places musically, to keep things interesting and appeal to as many groups as possible. Some couples want something very specific and that’s fine too (it’s your party after all).
I like to keep my dance floor sets interesting, but I also think its important to give songs room to breath. I will always add my own personal spin, with focus on song selection, smooth transitions, and mixing. While also throwing in some remixes and mashups for fun and creativity. I am always looking for new ways to listen to old music.
Music Preference
DJ’ing a wedding is more of an art than a science, because every group is different. Crafting a great dance party for each group is a recipe of:
- Getting to know the couple and their music taste
- Experience and music knowledge
- Reading the room and adapting
I have seen countless parties, and I truly believe that all music serves a purpose. There are different parties for different people, the key is finding the pulse of each group. Unless otherwise instructed I always stay open to crowd requests/suggestions to help gain information, but with a strict No Guarantees policy. I will do my best to work it in, but there are no promises it will be played.
- Couple of the evening excluded. You get whatever you want all of the time.
- Couple has the right to pass on any song at any time
It’s all so subjective, so I will spend time getting to know you and your music preferences so we can create the best memories possible!
